Understanding Tank Cleaning

Most customers have very little experience with tank cleaning. Truthfully, it is difficult for a customer to determine just how well his/her tanks are being cleaned, but as in most businesses, you usually get what you pay for.

Analyze the equipment being used.

Tank cleaning is serious business and requires serious equipment. Be sure your tanks are cleaned end to end with a cleaning apparatus that " stays on the bottom."

Water is heavy. It takes powerful suction to remove water from depths of 12 to 18 feet below the ground. Also, many tanks have considerable rust that requires strong suction to remove. Rust in tanks speeds up the rusting process and tank deterioration.  Rust removal is our biggest challenge in tank cleaning.  Our equipment removes lose rust and water. Underpowered equipment simply cannot remove water and rust adequately.

Is your fuel being wasted?

Any vacuum cleaning system is going to remove large amounts of fuel with the contamination as part of the cleaning process.  However, much fuel can be salvaged and returned to your tank if the proper equipment is used. It is expensive and unnecessary to dispose of salvageable fuel. Most tank cleaning systems do not have extensive fuel recovery capabilities.

Atlantic Clean Fuel uses both a "settling" system and extensive filtration to separate the debris and water from the good fuel. This takes time, equipment and operator experience. ACF takes pride in its fuel recovery.

Ask an Atlantic Clean Fuel representative for an explanation of our fuel recovery methods, and better yet, for a demonstration.
