Pulling the Pump
In our standard tank cleaning process, Atlantic Clean Fuel will enter the probe or fill holes ( usually the probe) and "snake" the tank bottom in both directions from that point.

Submersible pump must be removed to clean microbe infested intake.
Some tanks are so dirty it is recommended that the pump be removed and the tank cleaned more thoroughly at that entry point. We find this particularly beneficail in diesel tanks and on very rusty gas tanks.
Pulling the pump allows for cleaning the pump itself, which often will be coated with bacteria, slime and/or rust. (Note first image) When a pump becomes clogged, it can lead to pump failure.
Pulling the pump also gives direct access, using a straight pipe, to the strike plate beneath the pump, which is frequently the dirtiest area in the tank. Debris such as rust and sludge can be more completely removed from the strike plate and the crevasses around it using this method.
Pump removal does require more labor and time and therefore there is an additional charge for this service. Atlantic Clean Fuel highly remommends pulling the pump when condidtions call for it. DIscuss this procedure with ACF the next time you need tank cleaning.
ACF uses it's power assisted pump "jack" to remove most pump assemblies.
